How MRED Works for Illinois Home Sellers

Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED) is the multiple listing service behind most of the Illinois areas we serve. Here is how it works and what a flat fee MRED listing means for your sale.

Midwest Real Estate Data, known as MRED, is the multiple listing service for Chicagoland and Northern Illinois, and one of the largest MLSs in the country. Its coverage also extends to the Illinois Quad Cities. When a home is listed on MRED, every licensed real estate professional who uses the service can see it and bring it to their buyers.

A flat fee MLS listing puts your home on MRED without hiring a traditional listing agent for a percentage commission. You pay one flat fee up front, your home is entered into the same MLS agents already search, and you stay in control of pricing, showings, and offers.

How a flat fee listing appears on MRED

Your home is entered into MRED with the same listing information agents provide for their own sellers: photos, price, property details, and showing instructions. To buyers' agents searching the MLS, your listing appears alongside every other home for sale in the area.

Listing information may also be distributed to consumer real estate websites through syndication and data feeds. Each third-party website decides whether, and how, it displays particular listing information.

You choose the package that fits your sale: a 6-month listing with up to 25 photos, or a 12-month listing with up to 50 photos and Open House Alerts. There are no closing, transaction, settlement, success, or percentage fees.

MRED questions

Is MRED the only MLS in Illinois?
No. Illinois has more than one MLS. The Metro East and Southwestern Illinois markets are served by MARIS, and some central and western Illinois communities are in the RMLS Alliance area, where listings through our service are entered in MRED under a data-sharing partnership. Our Illinois coverage page shows which system serves each location we cover.
Will my flat fee listing look different from an agent's listing on MRED?
No. Your home is entered into MRED with the same fields and photo display as any other listing. Buyers' agents searching the MLS see it the same way they see every other home for sale.
Will my MRED listing appear on consumer real estate websites?
Listing information may be distributed to consumer real estate websites through syndication and data feeds. Each third-party website decides whether, and how, it displays particular listing information.
How do buyers and agents contact me?
Your contact information is shown on the MLS so agents can contact you directly. On public real estate websites, buyers may contact the listing office, and optional Call Forwarding can route those calls to your preferred phone number.
How long does a flat fee MRED listing last?
The Standard package is a 6-month listing with up to 25 photos. The Premium package is a 12-month listing with up to 50 photos and Open House Alerts. Both are one flat fee with no closing, transaction, settlement, success, or percentage fees.
